These reference tools gather best practice for each step of the environmental audit process and will foster consistency in the way these audits are prepared, led and followed up. This set of tools includes a reference Environmental Audit Process complemented by 7 other tools which provide further guidelines and templates for carrying out a best practice environmental audit. In order to ensure that the GSCP reference tools constantly reflect existing best practices and represent a wide consensus among stakeholders, all published GSCP tools are to be reviewed on a regular basis. The timeline for review is the following: - 1st review 1 year after publication These reviews take the shape of public consultations, typically running for a full year on the GSCP website. The 1st review of the GSCP reference tools on Environmental Audit Process & Methodology is now open and will run until end of December 2011. We therefore welcome and value constructive comments and suggestions. Your input should help identify best practices and should guarantee the highest level of protection for workers and of environmental practice in the supply chain. The GSCP Expert Working Group on the Environmental Module will thoroughly review and evaluate all completed submissions. The group will then evaluate and report on the need for revision of the reference tools on Environmental Audit Process & Methodology to both the Advisory and Executive Boards. Any approved revisions to the reference tools will then be made available publicly. All comments and suggestions are welcome and will be valued - we look forward to reading your input! |
